Visiting the Castle
Highclere offers different tours throughout the year, which reflect the seasons, the history, and of course Downton Abbey. Most tours require pre-booking, so do check before travelling.
Tours take you through the magnificent State Rooms on the ground floor, including the Saloon, the Library, the Drawing Room, and the Dining Room — each filled with extraordinary art, furniture, and history spanning over three centuries of Carnarvon family life.

By Car
Highclere Castle is located just off the A34, 5 miles south of Newbury. From the M4, take Junction 13 and follow the A34 south. Postcode: RG20 9RN.
By Train
The nearest train station is Newbury, approximately 7 miles away. Taxis are available from the station. London Paddington to Newbury takes approximately 45 minutes.
Accessibility
If you have booked tickets and would like to reserve a manual wheelchair, please contact us in advance. Pushchairs are most useful for the gardens and may be left at the Entrance Hall during the Castle tour. Please note that due to the historic nature of the building, some areas have limited accessibility.
